A mostly chilled out day, visiting and spending time with Donna at Dancy Dog Hotel, who takes care of all of our Apollo’s Angels, socialising and preparing them for their new lives in the UK. We met Atlas, Catya, Bruce, Blake, Rafi, Timi, George and Angus amongst others…

And of course, we also met Jazz and her beautiful litter of pups. Jazz is proving to be a wonderful mother and with Donna’s help, the pups are all playful and sociable, and will one day make wonderful additions to families within the UK.

For those of you who kindly sponsored the pups, we also held our very own christening ceremony, where each pup was named according to each sponsor’s choice, and ‘dressed’ up in their pretty new collars, kindly embroidered with their names by the very talented Helen Taylor. More photos of all pups in their new collars will follow, but here’s a little ‘taster’…

On our way back from Donna’s to the villa, we took a little detour and met up with Sophia (who many of you will recall, drew our attention to the tragic case of a litter of pups and mum who were being kept in disgusting conditions in a tiny cage just off the main highway). Sophia (the Mum who was named after the kind lady who discovered them) is now of course in her new home in the UK, as are two of the pups (formerly Addy [now Larry] and Acer) who the hunter surrendered to us.

Twice a week, Sophia is permitted to visit the remaining two pups (who we couldn’t persuade the hunter to pass over) and she takes them out to give them as much love and humanisation that she can before returning them to their ‘home’ (today was a ‘beach day’ for them 😍). The dad is still in his cage as you can see from the pictures below, as is an older dog, both kept in filthy conditions. We would very much like to persuade the hunter to allow us to find loving homes for the others, although we sadly won’t be holding our breath as Sophia has warned us that it is highly unlikely…

This is the pups’ dad (it’s fair to say that he was pleased to see us)…

The other dog (and older gentleman being kept in a filthy cage full of his own excrement)…

The cage where Mum and pups were forced to live..

The cage where Sophia has to return the pups to after taking them out to enjoy a bit of the real world… (understandably, they cry when she has to do this – as does she, but sadly, she currently has no choice if she wishes to at least be permitted the opportunity to give them what little love that he currently allows)…

Oh – and one more… our biggest ‘Angel’ of all with one of Sophia’s pups who currently remains in the above conditions…
