This is the summary of what our groups have been involved with during December 2023.

We currently have 28 dogs in our care, five of which are reserved at the present time.

We had one flight on 17 December for 2 dogs one of which had a forever home and the other was placed in UK foster. Three dogs already in UK foster were rehomed during December. We currently have 6 dogs in UK foster at the present time, three of whom are reserved.

One dog we originally rehomed in January 2021 became available again as her adopter sadly passed away. Huge thank you to Juliet Park and Jude Griffiths who helped liase with the adopters family, transportation and fostering until a new home can be found.

Our next flight is on 28 January and we are in the process of arranging which dogs will be travelling on it..

We paid our outstanding Cyprus vet and kennel bills total 4272 euros, and a UK vet bill of £988.37 for a dog in UK foster. We donated £260 to help 2 pointers in the care of other Cyprus based rescue organisations. We also donated £200 to the street dog/cat neuter and release community North Cyprus which paid for 4 stray dogs to be neutered. We also donated a bag of dog food value £59 to the Holly Hedge Auction.

We received £626.65 from Tracy’s Apollo Auction part 2, £900 from Jacksons book sales, £712 from Jan’s bonus ball fundraisers, £2184 from Tracy’s Apollo Christmas raffle, £443 from Tracy’s birthday fundraiser, £650 from Nicola’s santa fundraiser, £5950 from the 2024 calendar and Christmas card sales, £15 from Lisa Cook pocket pouch sales, £118.48 from Paula Fahy Bonio wreath sales, £80 from Liz Veasy xmas wreath sales, £160 from Carol Parsons wreath making workshop, £1500 to go towards the cost of Solo’s operations from a group member who wishes to remain anonymous, £100 from Katherine Neylan, £500 from Helen Brown, £100 from Christine Rhatigan, £15 from Jan Daly, £20 from Kerry Brown, £80 from Lisa Reily, £30 from Kim Clayton, £30 from Petra Ryall, £100 from Jill Larcombe in memory of her lovely boy Bertie, £100 from Nick Reed, £50 from Joy Walker, £75 from John Byron, £20 from Dawn Timson, £30 from Fiona Calvin, £85 from Jill Larcombe’s pub quiz, £60 from Simon & Lisa Worledge, £213.84 from PayPal giving fund, £250 from Sarah Walker, £30 from Tracey Sandford, £100 from Jackie Wright, £40 from Kerry Booth, £100 from Julie Hughes and £20 in general donations. The total amount raised to date in the 2023 Save a penny save a life fundraiser is £1161.26.

Tracy will be setting up the Apollo unwanted gift auction later this month. If anyone has any items they would like to donate please send a photo and brief description of the item to Tracy on messenger and she will add it to the album.

The monthly winner of our Pay it forward event who wins a pet portrait commission is Jude Griffiths.
Across our three Facebook groups (Rehoming Cyprus Pointers, Apollo’s Angels and Apollo’s Angels Events) 225 new members joined and there were a total of 29034 posts, comments and reactions during December.

The total number of dogs rehomed during 2023 was 71, and we donated £5550 to other Cyprus based rescue groups to help another 40 pointers in their care. The total donated to the North Cyprus street dog neutering programme was £2000. £1000 was also donated the Take Away The Tears Cyprus dog food distribution event.

We would like to thank everyone for all their support and help throughout 2023 and look forward to another busy year in 2024.
